To our lovely
Kappa Delta parents:
I hope that this letter finds you in
good health and that your year is going well.
I'll start with a congratulation to our wonderful Kappa Delta sisters on
our 81 new members. We were so excited
to welcome them into our sisterhood on Bid Day with a baseball theme featuring
slogans such as “There’s No Place Like Home” and “Rounding Third and Headed for
Home”. We cheered the new members in and after taking part in the delicious
ballpark themed food provided by the house's own Chef Nancy, we relocated for a
sisterhood event at Champions. At
Champions all the girls took part in ice breaking games, bonding activities,
and all kinds of sporty activities.
Overall, it was a great day.
The Epsilon Omega chapter of Kappa
Delta has also been proud to celebrate International Woman’s Friendship Month
during the month of September. The
sisters had a bake sale, gave flowers to Women Faculty, hosted an ice cream
social and trunk show, hosted a barbecue and all-around celebrated friendship
among women everywhere.
Furthermore, along with our
successful August and September events, we have many more to come. Coming up the first weekend in October is
Kappa Delta's Parents’ Weekend. Our VP
Public Relations Ellen Jaudon has been hard at work planning a fun, exciting
weekend – so be sure to come by. Friday
October 4th, from 5:00pm – 8:00 pm, the KD House will be open for
tours, snacks, and meeting other parents. Saturday October 5th, from
9:30am - 12:30pm, will be a tailgate at Keeneland. Finally, Sunday will be brunch at the KD
House from 9:00am – 11:00am. Parents are
welcome to come to any and all of these events!
Also in October, Kappa Delta and
Beta Theta Pi will be holding their 2nd annual Bring It On
Philanthropy event. It takes place Wednesday October 9th and will
involve cheerleading routines from many paired sororities and fraternities –
and even a routine from some of our very own KD ladies paired up with Beta
Theta Pi. Proceeds raised from Bring It
On will go to Kappa Delta's local Philanthropy, The Nest, and also to the
Violence Intervention Prevention Center at the University of Kentucky. The Nest
is our local philanthropy that provides counseling, recovery, and care services
for women, children, and families in the Lexington area and we are delighted we
were able to help their cause. Last year Bring It On raised $8,929.26, so we
look forward to yet another successful event this year!
Other events to come are our White
Rose celebration on Saturday October 11th and new member Initiation
on Sunday October 13th. (Don't forget that Kappa Delta Alumnae are
more than welcome to attend initiation.) We also have Founder's Day on October
23rd and many more date parties and sisterhood events to come! We'll do our best to keep you updated.
In conclusion, we would like to
thank you for all that you have done for our chapter and we look forward to
seeing you at our future events.
AOT,
Jordan Hubrich
