A Letter to Our Parents

To our lovely Kappa Delta parents:

I hope that this letter finds you in good health and that your year is going well.  I'll start with a congratulation to our wonderful Kappa Delta sisters on our 81 new members.  We were so excited to welcome them into our sisterhood on Bid Day with a baseball theme featuring slogans such as “There’s No Place Like Home” and “Rounding Third and Headed for Home”. We cheered the new members in and after taking part in the delicious ballpark themed food provided by the house's own Chef Nancy, we relocated for a sisterhood event at Champions.  At Champions all the girls took part in ice breaking games, bonding activities, and all kinds of sporty activities.  Overall, it was a great day.
The Epsilon Omega chapter of Kappa Delta has also been proud to celebrate International Woman’s Friendship Month during the month of September.  The sisters had a bake sale, gave flowers to Women Faculty, hosted an ice cream social and trunk show, hosted a barbecue and all-around celebrated friendship among women everywhere.
Furthermore, along with our successful August and September events, we have many more to come.  Coming up the first weekend in October is Kappa Delta's Parents’ Weekend.  Our VP Public Relations Ellen Jaudon has been hard at work planning a fun, exciting weekend – so be sure to come by.  Friday October 4th, from 5:00pm – 8:00 pm, the KD House will be open for tours, snacks, and meeting other parents. Saturday October 5th, from 9:30am - 12:30pm, will be a tailgate at Keeneland.  Finally, Sunday will be brunch at the KD House from 9:00am – 11:00am.  Parents are welcome to come to any and all of these events!
Also in October, Kappa Delta and Beta Theta Pi will be holding their 2nd annual Bring It On Philanthropy event. It takes place Wednesday October 9th and will involve cheerleading routines from many paired sororities and fraternities – and even a routine from some of our very own KD ladies paired up with Beta Theta Pi.  Proceeds raised from Bring It On will go to Kappa Delta's local Philanthropy, The Nest, and also to the Violence Intervention Prevention Center at the University of Kentucky. The Nest is our local philanthropy that provides counseling, recovery, and care services for women, children, and families in the Lexington area and we are delighted we were able to help their cause. Last year Bring It On raised $8,929.26, so we look forward to yet another successful event this year!
Other events to come are our White Rose celebration on Saturday October 11th and new member Initiation on Sunday October 13th. (Don't forget that Kappa Delta Alumnae are more than welcome to attend initiation.) We also have Founder's Day on October 23rd and many more date parties and sisterhood events to come!  We'll do our best to keep you updated.

In conclusion, we would like to thank you for all that you have done for our chapter and we look forward to seeing you at our future events.

AOT,

Jordan Hubrich

Recruitment

After a long summer away from our Kappa Delta sisters we were thrilled to be back in Lexington! With recruitment quickly approaching we were put to work, but still managing to have TONS of fun! All of our Spirit Week preparation allowed us to put our best foot forward for a successful recruitment! In the end, all of that hard work paid off! We recruited 82 beautiful Kappa Deltas and can't wait to get to know these girls even better! I don't know about you, but I think everyone is excited for October 13th (INITIATION)! Check back soon for more things Kappa Delta!

Shamrock 2013

Epsilon Omega was at it again hosting Emerald Evening and the Shamrock Shuffle 5K! We had a terrific turnout at both events! Pasta and pancakes were devoured by many, others decided to participate in the silent auction, and many participated by running in the Shamrock Shuffle. All proceeds go to The Nest and Prevent Child Abuse America. Total earnings of the events are being calculated, but we wanted to share images of the events sooner rather than later! The weekend was full of excitement with our two successful philanthropy events, multiple birthdays and a surprise engagement! We hope to see you out at the Shamrock Shuffle next year!

Kappa Delta Shamrock Event

Epsilon Omega Is proud to announce it’s 2013 Shamrock Event to be held March 22 and 23! Kappa Delta chapters across the nation host Shamrock Events to raise money for both local and national philanthropies. This year Epsilon Omega is continuing to support The Nest, a local organization supporting women and families in crisis. The Nest is a great organization offering child care, counseling services, parenting classes and crisis case management. Along with The Nest, we are once again supporting our national philanthropy Prevent Child Abuse America. PCA America works to create awareness about child abuse as well as preventing abuse and neglect of our nation’s children. These two fantastic philanthropies can benefit greatly with your participation in our Shamrock Event, so we hope to see you there!
The first portion of the 2013 Shamrock Event will be our infamous Emerald Evening, promising yet another extraordinary silent action! Emerald Evening is to be held on March 22, the time and place are still being determined! If you wish to attend or donate to Emerald Evening please contact Vice President Community Service, Michaela Pierceall at kd.eo.vpservice@gmail.com.
